The Rock Church has grown into the largest megachurch in San Diego and one of the fastest-growing churches in the nation. Outreach magazine ranked it 17th in its annual fastest-growing list, with 19 percent growth in the past year, and more than 15,000 weekly attendees.
Miles McPherson, a former Charger, started the church in 2000 and added the Rock Academy, a pre-K through 12 Christian school in 2002. It’s main campus is located at Liberty Station in Point Loma and it offers satellite campuses in San Marcos, El Cajon and San Ysidro where attendees watch sermons on a large-screen television.
The Rock offers more than 150 external ministries for members to serve in. These include ministries that work in Donovan Prison, homeless shelters, strip clubs, hospital oncology wings and with military families.
