The Chargers are worried they will lose a significant part of their fan base if the Rams move from St. Louis to L.A. The Rams owner, a real estate developer, recently announced plans to build an 80,000-seat NFL stadium adjacent to the Forum with private funds. (FYI Dean Spanos: Private funds means money from non-taxpaying sources. You might not know of this concept.)
That could mean the loss of Orange County as a fan base, which we previously reported supports the Bolts. The Chargers want San Diego to invest $600 million for its new stadium. If we don't build it, the Chargers will get even poorer (They are only worth $995 million).
But a simple majority isn't enough to pass a ballot measure requiring taxpayer money for such a project. It needs two-thirds of the vote. So Mayor Kevin Faulconer has announced a task force to look into the matter. That’s about as exciting as the Chargers offense was in the season finale.
